Thanks for all the input so far. Keep it coming. I'd really not like to make a mistake again.
The fault is mine for not doing this checking in October. I have to remember that no matter how sincere a person is, and no matter how confident he sounds, he can still be misinformed. I can't blame the person who sold me the car because he was laboring under a delusion. I can blame myself for not independently confirming the identity of the axle before ordering parts.
The bolt circle on the car is indeed 4.25 inches (a measly .002" off of 108mm).
In all the years I have been telling folks about the 3.75-inch circle on Spitfire, GT6, Herald, TR7, TR8, Elan, and Europa, I never recall anyone pointing out that the Marina also shared the same bolt circle.
