You can, but the distributor machine is easier and more direct. A scope
tells you the electrical condition of the system, but will show advance
etc. but needs the engine running.  Both combined is a great tool.  If
you know how to read it, you can find lean or rich cylinders, vacuum
leaks, Jimmy Hoffa.....

i know.  every shop used to have one, now no one does.
   
  we are looking for a machine to test/calibrate dizzy's.
   
  been looking around with no success.  any leads/suggestions?
