[Roadsters] heater core hose

I have a hose on the SRL that runs from a T right in front of the carbs to the fire wall. The PO has it installed so it rubs on the steering column. It is very close to being rubbed trough. 

My question: can I just remove this hose and plug both ends or does it have to be installed? I do not need a heater.
