Decided that somehow I fried the Pertronix - so buy a new one and off to the races. There does seem to be a potential issue re ballast resistors - or lack of same in my case, so I will check w/Dean and the Pertronix people and get it sorted. Thanks to all who offered advice and solutions - I am now less of an electrical klutz. Cheers Peter
