[Roadsters] Rising Sun opinions (was "RE: What did you do this weekend? 2/1/09")

As a japanese american, I totally agree that the rising sun is (unfortuantely) associated with Imperial Japan. In fact, it was (and is) the naval flag. I wouldn't want my car vandalized b/c of this, especially because koreans and chinese anger towards japan is still very real even in the usa.

Huge hurking thread or two discussing that on Ratsun.net, which has quite a
few members' cars with Rising Sun hoods. The short story is that many people
(mostly baby boomers and older) equate the Rising Sun flag with World War
II, the sneak attack on Pearl Harbor, etc, etc, and feel it's anti-American.


The younger folks just think it's proudly advertising their Japanese cars,
especially since classic American iron has gotten ridiculously expensive.

I think I may change the color scheme while I have it apart this time.  I
like the Orange but I am getting a little tired of it.  I'm thinking about a
Texas Flag with the star on the trunk.  I'm open to other ideas except the
rising sun which I find offensive.
