No, I am not using a ballest resistor; (rectangular in shape about three inches long, correct?). I am referring to the inch long tube like part that connects to the positive terminal of the coil.

Are you referring to the ballast resistor?  If so it provides a voltage drop
so you don't get a full 12-13 volts across the points causing them to pit and
burn prematurely.
If you have an electronic dizzy you shouldn't be using a ballast resistor.

I am talking about/referring to the little cylinder looking part that mounts
ight above the coil.
I cannot find a part number for it in any of my books or online.
Is this piece a condenser? Or considered part of the coil.
