I at least hope HPT is more exciting for drivers than it is for workers &
spectators. I always thought of the Runoffs as some grand, beyond reality
event. Now thinking about it being at Heartland just makes it the level
of another race. Drivers will go, they have no choice, but I think
spectators are in for a sad surprise. Name one place at HPT that can even
remotely compete with the view (of) China Beach at Mid-O.

The first couple years of the NASCAR truck races I gave my tickets (and
others) to my brother, some friends and some co-workers. EVERY one of
them walked-away thinking HPT was the worst track possible for specators.
Not only in terms of where there was on the embankments, etc., but what
there was to see on the track. I thin weather is only half the reason
spectators stayed-away from the NASCAR events at HPT; I think the racing
was the other half.

I honestly don't care what others think of my opinion on this- The Runoffs
are in Topeka only because the office is in Topeka, and that's too bad.
And no, I don't care if it is only a 4 hour drive from DSM. I honestly
can't see I feel like working the Runoffs now. The last couple of years
it's been a work issue, but I can't see using a week of vacation in
Topeka.
