Sinkhole Security Camera Footage

Bowling Green, KY -- At 5:44 a.m. last Wednesday, Feb. 12, the manager of the
National Corvette Museum received a call from the organization's security
company, alerting him that the motion detectors were going off in the original
section of the museum, the Skydome. A sinkhole measuring approximately 40 feet
across and as much as 30 feet deep, opened up and swallowed eight Corvettes.
Bowling Green is located atop Kentucky's greatest concentration of
subterranean caves. No one was in or around the museum at the time.

The Bowling Green Fire Department secured the area. Museum management quickly
engaged the services of a structural engineer, who arrived Wednesday to assess
the damage and stability of the surrounding areas. While the Skydome area is
closed, the rest of the Museum remains open.

Beyond the danger of underground caverns swallowing up Corvettes, what is our
main takeaway? In a culture dominated by spin doctors and CYA responses, the
museum's management team was open and forthright in the face of a truly
bizarre incident, and even hurried release of video from the security cameras,
showing exactly how the sinkhole developed, and developed suddenly.

Eight Corvettes were affected by the incident, including two on loan from
General Motors: the 1993 ZR-1 Spyder concept car with aluminum Lotus-designed
LT5 engine, built for GM by Mercury Marine. The 1990-95 ZR-1s produced 405hp.
Also swallowed by the sinkhole? The ZR1 prototype of 2009, known as the "Blue
Devil" in honor of former GM CEO Rick Wagoner's alma mater, Duke University.
The ZR1 is powered by a 6.2-liter LS9 aluminum-block supercharged V8. The
current production ZR1 is the fastest read more:

HSR To Celebrate 50 Years of Mustang

at Sebring Historics Dec. 4-7

Clearwater, FL -- To celebrate the racing heritage of the Ford Mustang on its
50th Anniversary, HSR invites all Mustangs to the Sebring Historics in
December 4-7, 2014. Complementing the on-track activities will be Mustang
corrals, parade laps, driver panels and much more.

How important is the Mustang to U.S. road racing? Well, both Shelbys may have
dropped out of the 1966 Sebring event, but in 1967 the Mustang again joined
its big brothers for one of the hardest endurance road races in the world. The
Shelby GT350 entered by Caballos Racing with driver/owner Fred van Beuren, Jr.
and co-driver Paul Jett not only finished, but was 1st in the GT 5.0 class and
16th overall.

Jack Roush arrived in the 1980s -- admittedly with tube-frame silhouette
racers engineered to meet IMSA GTO regulations -- and brought the Mustang
greater glory, with a strong record:

                * 1st in GTO and 6th overall behind five GTP cars in 1985.

                * 1st & 2nd in GTO, 4th and 5th overall behind three Porsche
GTP 962s in 1986.

                * And 2nd in GTO behind the winning GTO car and six Porsche
962s in 1987.

If next winter is anything like this year's big dump, make your reservations
now to take your pony for a ride in the warm Florida sunshine this coming
December. For more info: www.hsrrace.com

Learn How To Shoot Race Cars

Like A Pro At F8 Photo Workshops

  <http://ih.constantcontact.com/fs165/1102444951134/img/1102.jpg>

Cupertino, CA -- If you've admired the stunning photographs of historic racing
events in your favorite magazine (er, that would be Vintage Motorsport, of
course) and wondered how our professional "shooters" compose those action and
atmosphere shots, you can learn how to get over the fence and shoot like a pro
at three F8 Motorsports Photography Workshops scheduled for the coming racing
season.

Combining classroom sessions and on-track instruction, students will get the
opportunity to shoot from where only professionals are allowed, learn new
techniques from the best in the business, all while photographing some of the
most historic racing cars in the world. You will be inside the fence with
"hands on" instruction on improving your photographic skills, where to shoot,
how to best utilize your equipment, how to interact with track staff, etc.
Classroom sessions will cover topics such as: equipment, composition,
locations, light and weather, applying for media credentials, and much more.

F8's 2014 season kicks off at the Historic Motor Sports Assn. (HMSA) spring
event at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca on March 21-24. What better way to start
off the year than via a working vacation on the Monterey peninsula and
shooting the world-class cars of HMSA? One month later F8 will be at the
Historic Sportscar Racing (HSR) Walter Mitty Classic at Road Atlanta on April
25-27. The season wraps up with a special four-day Master Class at the HSR
Classic 24 at Daytona International Speedway, Nov. 14-17.

February 7. This prewar Bentley has won awards throughout its life, including
the 1932 RAC Best Coachwork Award and the 1999 Louis Vuitton Concours Best of
Show.

The extraordinary sale result was given a boost the following day when sale of
the star car, the 1953 Ferrari 166MM by Oblin, finalized for $3,477,838.

For the first time, and perhaps of particular interest to many Vintage
Motorsport readers, Artcurial Motorcars presented a second sale on Feb. 8: the
SOLO ALFA sale, featuring a private Italian collection of just over 40
post-war models. Attracting enthusiasts and collectors from around the world,
strong prices were recorded throughout the sale, with the star lot, the rare
1965 Alfa Romeo Giulia TZ coupe that was delivered new in France, selling for

The other Alfa Romeo of particular interest was the 1970 Alfa Romeo GTAm,
driven onto the block by Carlo Facetti, who competed in this car during the
1973 season; it sold for $448,730. And proving that prices for Alfas without
significant racing pedigree are way up, a 1956 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint
Veloce sold for $242,778, far beyond its estimate. (Note: all dollar figures
based on past week's currency exchange rates.)

Artcurial Motorcars' next sale will be 'Sport et GTs' at Classic Le Mans on
July 5, 2014. For more information, go to: www.artcurial.com

If It Has An Engine, We're Interested

Oxnard, CA -- The Mullin Automotive Museum, a Southern California institution
devoted to the preservation of French art and automobiles from the Art Deco
era, has announced it will debut the completed recreation of the Bugatti 100P
airplane as part of its Art of Bugatti exhibition, a tribute to the Bugatti
family's enduring genius, opening March 25, 2014.

The Mullin Automotive Museum will debut the completed recreation of the
Bugatti 100P airplane as part of its Art of Bugatti exhibition.

Originally designed in collaboration with Ettore Bugatti and Belgian engineer
Louis de Monge, the original 1937 Bugatti 100P is considered by many to be one
of the most technologically advanced airplanes of the era. The 100P featured
cutting-edge aerodynamics with forward-pitched wings, a zero-drag cooling
system, and sophisticated flight controls, all predating the development of
the best Allied fighters of World War II. Powered by twin 450hp engines, the
plane was designed to reach speeds approaching 500mph, a feat previously only
achieved by aircraft with twice the horsepower. The 100P was also much more
compact than most aircraft of the era, with a wingspan of just 27 ft. and an
overall length of approximately 25.25 ft. In June 1940, with European
hostilities fully under way, Bugatti stopped work on the 100P and concealed
the plane to prevent its discovery by the German military. Though the plane
survived the war, it was left in a condition unfit for flight.

In 2009, Scott Wilson, John Lawson and Simon Birney of Le Reve Blue began
construction on the first-ever re-creation of the Bugatti 100P. Handcrafted
using largely the same materials and processes as the original, the
re-creation is dimensionally and aerodynamically identical to the original
plane and includes elements of the five patents that Bugatti was originally
awarded for the 100P. The recreation was teased as under construction at
AirVenture in Oshkosh, WI in 2011, but will be seen as completed for the first
time at the Mullin Automotive Museum, beginning in March.

"We've searched for years to gather the best examples of the Bugatti family's
work and couldn't be more thrilled to host the 100P at our museum," said Peter
Mullin, founder and chairman of the Mullin Automotive Museum. "Bugatti has
always been known for its remarkable automobiles, but the 100P is one of the
missing pieces that truly shows the breadth and depth of the family's work."

"There isn't a better way to finish this project than to have the 100P be a
part of the Art of Bugatti before it takes to the skies," said Scott Wilson,
Le Reve Blue managing director. "For the first time, this incredible piece of
engineering and design will receive the broad recognition it deserves, 77
years later."

We'll be seeing lots of news about Carroll Shelby and Pete Brock because of
the 50thanniversary of the Daytona Coupe's Le Mans GT-class victory. This film
about the Daytona Coupe's Le Mans win in '64 was produced by Pat Bondurant and
her friends and crew at the Bondurant School. The Bondurant crew commissioned
it for an anniversary celebration panel of the '64 Shelby team survivors on
January 11th. When the film was not competed just three days before the event,
Pat stepped in and got it done. Bob Bondurant, Dan Gurney, Peter Brock, and
Carroll Shelby made an incredible team.

This film produced in 1962 shows Herrmann Lang returning to the Nurburgring to
drive his Mercedes W125 Grand Prix race car. Funny to think that this historic
tribute film is more than a half-century old. Heritage counts. Heritage
matters.
