My 3 weighs 1970 lbs., 2.2 liter motor but I can tell you that the +4
Morgans with Ford motors are much faster and of course the one with the twin
cam Lotus motor is out of sight

If it has standard barely-synchro'd 4-speed Moss box gearbox, surely that
had to slow down the Morgan slightly. At least by CVAR's rules, the Plus 8
wouldn't be allowed to use overdrive.  But if Chris' engine has only 2.2
liters it's clearly holding its own against the Morgan's 3.5 liters,
particularly since the Morgan probably has the weight advantage (a stock
pre-1972 Morgan Plus 8 weighs 1950 lbs). The Morgan Plus 8s were not as
successful in racing as the TR-engined Plus 4s mainly because the restricted
ports can only be worked so far.
