[Fot] TR6 Transmission

My point is in regard to Vintage, not to SCCA or any other Club Rules, I should make that clear, and also that I see hub/axle mods purely for safety reasons, and fully support the use of those upgrades.
I just think that in Vintage we should stick with stock-based Triumph components re mechanicals, that's part of the challenge, but I will concede that availability of decent used cores, and lack of available new parts, is becoming an issue in some cases.

Not sure why I'm entering in this conversation, but my TR6 is mostly original. I use the Triumph motor, with PI and Lucas distributors, I use the Standard transmission with close ratio gears, I have a Triumph differential with a LSD, I use stock axels with the axel hubs changed to Corvair hubs, stock brake MC with booster, rear brakes are stock with alfin drums, the front brakes are stock calipers with EBC pads, I also have the upgraded axel stubs with aluminum hubs, all steel body, stock (Smiths) gauges. Can't think of much more, but mostly Triumph.

Hmmm I thought that we were racing Triumph cars, not TriumphToyotaDatsunEtc cars?
OK, sorry, I'll leave now...

To the purists: how much of your car is stock? Running tires and brakes from the 60's or 70's are you? Didn't think so.

Toyota Celica 5 speed O/D trans. Got it from a guy in New Mexico about 3 years ago: Eaglegate. Don't know if they are still in business. Spare trans are plentiful. I think the Mustang 5 speed is good too.

Perfectly legal as long as 5th is an O/D ratio.

OBTW: carbs are off a '70 240Z. Work great and are cheap.

Brakes: stock calipers, rotors, and drums. 7/8 rear cylinders.

Upgraded front and rear hubs, for safety reasons.

I help keep Richard in business, along with a few others!

Keep having fun and improving the car and driver.

       Mainly the fun part!

       Cheers,

Is anyone running a non-British transmission in their racing Triumph? Anyone using the HVDA conversion?

SVRA does allow the upgrade with a weight penalty.
