[Fot] Mueller (?) Spitfire Axles

I believe I have 'Mueller' made axles on my Spitfire. One side has quite a bit of play. The other side, the yoke that attaches to a spicer ujoint at the diff was welded to the axle. That yoke has cracked along the weld line. This yoke has 10 splines and is secured with a circlip around the axle shaft.

Other racing axles I have seen have a 1/4 bolt drilled through the yoke and shaft.

Based on the attached pictures, should I (a) look to replace the entire setup (b) have a machine shop drill for a 1/4" bolt or (c) something else all together. 

The axle at the hub appears to be fine. 

This car has a long racing history with logbook back to the early 70s.
