[Fot] Auxiliary Oil Line Size

In the early 70's I had a G Production 1147 spitfire and, I think I'm right in remembering this, a TR6 oil pump bolted up with no modification to the block. I think I did some work in the pan. I was told it flowed more and I'm thinking the TR6 rotor assembly was 50% taller than the 1147. There may have been a simple aluminum adaptor or plate used to fit the larger pump. Maybe someone has both pumps to compare.

Also looked at the accusump site and they say minimum hose size of -6 for the one quart system. For the bigger systems the min hose size is -10.

For a 4 gpm flow of 20w-50 oil at 212 degrees, the pressure drop is: 0.2, 0.5 and 2.0 psi/ft for AN10, 8 and 6 respectively. Fittings and valves are usually treated as so many equivalent feet of straight pipe. I think 4 gpm is a respectable rate. I surfed all over the internet looking for pump rates, but could not find specs on an actual pump rate for any engine. Next time you buy a "high volume" oil pump ask for the rate and see what happens.
