One other source for AN hardware I’ve used many times is Wicksaircraft.com <http://wicksaircraft.com/>.

Nyloc nuts are available in half-heights and there are many other items available — roll pins, close-tolerance bolts, Tinnerman nuts, Dzus fastener hardware, castellated nuts to use with drilled bolts, etc.

The best feature is that the shank (portion under the head that is not threaded) is available in any length in increments of .063" (1/16"). You never have the threads in shear. The AN washers are available in .063" and .032" thickness and there are nyloc nuts and mechanical lock nuts.

Is a grade 8 bolt a good idea where it will be stressed with all the up and down motion with the vertical link? Too brittle? Usually I go for grade 8 whenever possible but I’ve heard there are instances where it might not be the best solution.

>> My son and his wife teaching in Shanghai said the Chinese love to celebrate American holidays (they know them from American TV and movies) but their take on Thanksgiving is that you thank people who do nice things for you. So they got cards from their students thanking them for teaching. Kind of a different twist but a good one I thought.
