[Healeys] Gas Tank Restoration

I have had success using distilled white vinegar. I cleaned out a 3000 tank a few years back. After that I put it in service without any kind of internal coating.

I am currently in the process of cleaning out a rusty 100 tank. It doesn’t happen over night. I put in gallon or two with a few tablespoons of salt. Leave it sit for a week or two then rotate the tank to its side or wherever there is rust. Dump it out and put in another gallon or so. I have been doing this for a couple of months now and have gone through around six or seven gallons. It’s very effective and cheap if you are not in a hurry. It just depends on how rusty the tank is.
