Fazal,

Starting at PAG in late-March and running the continent anti-clockwise would
be perfect for Arizona. We could actually run though Phoenix, although I'm
not sure that would be the highlight of anyone's trip. We almost have to
stop at the Grand Canyon, but we won't do a twilight drive at that time of
the year -- way too cold.

If we get JCNA approval, we'll have a year to plan. We should get clubs
committed early, with a JONAT SC named by something like June 30. That way
we'll have some idea where the route will go. I'd like to see the handoff
points set by Sept. 30, and the route finalized by Dec 31.

That would give everyone nearly three months to promote the trip in their
area. We'd be getting coverage in the Jaguar Journal the whole time, like
they do for the Challenge Championship, so it should be easier this time.

Just throwing out some thoughts.

Mark - AZ

It's been great looking through all these emails, to know that JONAT, the
event, is not forgotten. On my part, I fulfilled a 'road-trip' dream in a
beautiful country that I had only seen in the films and I met lots of
normal, decent people who had pride in their cars and knew how to enjoy
themselves.
I was a bit like Jay, on one sector. My ride wasn't there so I did 250 miles
lying in the back of a pick-up, taking pics and enjoying myself. I thought
it was a quintessential American experience and all I needed was a my dog at
my feet and a guitar to complete the scene. My only disappointment was Hazel
wasn't carrying a silver .38 in the glove box of her XK8. I mean, doesn't
everyone?

OK. My understanding of the plan so far, after my brief, non-committal chats
with Jaguar, is that if they get involved (in any major way) J06 should
start at PAG and head East (for a change). The route should pass through
Dearborn so that Mr Ford & the company can say hello. If this happens I
think JCNA involvement is a given. Other than that, no other details. So
lets start with this and toss it about. Possible ramifications of PAG
involvement might mean that dealers along the way might be involved in
acting as hand-over points or host something.

One thing, the successes of J04 (when they happened) were due to the
individuals concerned and their commitment to the enterprise and I would be
loath to lose that to any bureaucracy.

Regards
Fazal
[it's summertime here, State Concours is over and I won bronze in the driven
class! I know I'm repeating myself but....:-)]
