A modest proposal for increasing participation in the tour...
A major problem for many will be getting your Jaguar to/from the
starting/ending points of the sectors you've chosen to participate in. This isn't a big
deal if one end includes your home town, but if you want to sample a different
part of the continent (or live on another one entirely), getting your car
back and forth can make it one.
Hertz offers a special <A HREF="http://offers.hertz.com/prestigecollection03/index.cfm?">prestige</A><A HREF="http://offers.hertz.com/prestigecollection03/index.cfm?"> vehicles rental program</A> which of course
(Ford owns both Jaguar and Hertz) includes Jaguars. Published rates are hardly
low, but if you live on the east coast and want to (say) participate from Denver
to Los Angeles, you could rent an X- or S-Type for two weeks for the cost of
shipping your own baby back and forth.
Could the directors negotiate special rates and/or a sponsorship for those
who find it impractical to ship their cars across the country?
We might also look into creating a resource list of automobile transporters.
