Some good ideas ... so good in fact I'm going to share it with the Sector
Coordinators.
When you get your webpage set-up, let me know and I'll connect the link from
the overview webpage I have created to yours. I'm leaving each Sector to
set up their own webpage as they see fit - I think only Regina, Ottawa, and
Winnipeg have one right now. If someone goes to the overall map page and
clicks on the logo in the Sector, they get the link page which provides
basic information for that particular Sector. There is a further link on
that page that links to the individual Sector's more detailed webpage -
check out the Ottawa site and you'll see what I mean.
Each Sector does indeed need to get some sort of financing to help defray
costs. Your idea of sponsorships at $15 per business (I might hike that up
a bit even) to help reduce costs is a good one. Perhaps as an incentive you
can publish them on your website and/or handouts.
Regarding money left over, as an alternative to saving the money for the
sequel Tour, the Regina Sector, for example, is going to donate this to
charity (MS Society). This also might make it easier to sell those
sponsorships.
Any other thoughts or comments from the SC's?

In addition to the ideas I submitted this AM, here is another idea. It will
require a little HTML programming on your part, but I think well worth it.
I intend to setup a webpage, which will include maps, service center, hotel,
amusement places, eateries and so forth. For instance, there is a Jaguar
owner that owns a garage shop. I just had my injectors cleaned by a local
diesel shop.
Anyway, and you can ask the others how they feel about this, but lets say
you want to know what is in the Vernon, British Columbia Canada that might
interest you. You would simply point to Vernon, click on the link and this
would take you to my webpage and then you can get a preview of that segment
of the tour.
That is my idea for now. I’d like to get started soon. In fact I am on my
way next door to the radio DJ’s home. But over time I’ll have the site up,
and as each business or service comes online, they will be included.
I am thinking that if I collect a small advertisement fee, say $15 from each
business, this can go to a slush fund to help defray the expenses some might
encounter if their vehicle breaks down, or they need/have an emergency.
What are your thoughts on this?
Any left over money can be kept in a managed account for the next tour.

1. I am originally from Indianapolis and I had planned to pick my son
up in Calgary and continue on with the tour until we reached Indy, which
would be our jump-off point. The map shows the tour going to Indy, yet
there has not been a mention of said segment. Will there be one?
2. I was getting down on paper some ideas on how to promote the tour
locally.
a. The local radio DJ is my neighbor. Maybe some air time?
b. Get a listing of all of the Jaguar/British car owners located in
the Okanagan/Shuswap area.
c. Promote the tour through the Rotary clubs in the surrounding
communities.
d. Promote the tour to local service stations; maybe getting a
discount of several cents on fuel. Trust me, when the American drivers see
the fuel prices here they will have heart failure and then go into cardiac
arrest. Fuel for 93 octane is around $.97 a litter, or about $3.59 a gallon
Canadian or $2.52 US. Bring your VISA/MasterCard/AMEX card.
e. Promote the tour to local hotels and motels.
f. Promote the tour to local KOA and other campground sites.
g. Promote the tour to local homeowners willing to take tourist in.
This is big thing up here and as an American bearing witness; they really
open their doors to people for overnight stays.
3. Is there a way the chat link can be put on the home or login page?
I usually work at night and during some free time try to find the link. The
problem is my directions are on my home office system. If I am having this
problem, maybe there are others as well?
4. I have not heard from anyone locally, so I am flying blind here as
to how I should begin to coordinate my activities with others.
Anyway, any feedback on the above would be greatly appreciated.
