[JONAT] Payment System NOT Ready

MessageGreg, with all due respect, not everyone wins or gets as many =
plaques or prizes/mementos that relate to their Jaguar ownership. I am =
sure that many of those for whom JONAT may be the only organised Jaguar =
activity that they participate in, a memento would be appreciated.
Further, we are endeavouring to make JONAT more than just a =
flash-in-the-pan adventure and we need constant reminders of it out in =
the 23 months or so before the next one. From a marketing point of view, =
we need the paraphernalia of an organised event. Otherwise, we might as =
well just put the whole thing on the web, email everybody once and wash =
our hands of it.

participation; if the fee is related to giving the participants =
something "meaningful", I would vote for forgetting "meaningful". People =
are not doing this for the memorabilia we will provide; the experience =
of the trip is what will be worthwhile. I routinely "file" my car show =

Greg, I think it was a bit premature to announce prices to JONAT, =
generally. I believe that it is going to have to be more than $20, if we =
want to supply anything meaningful. Anyway, the EC (to my knowledge) has =
not authorised anything.
I would rather we 'launched' this section of the web as a completed =
unit, after we have decided on payment channels & amounts.

The payment accounting system is ready for use by our treausurer, =
EC's and SC's.
If you are an EC or an SC, look in your toolbar at the upper right =
corner of the Jonat home page for a "Payments" link.
This takes you to a report showing the payment status of all Jonat =
members. You can sort the report by clicking on the column headers. =

Right now the system is set up so that only EC's can modify =
payment information for members. I am wondering if SC's will also need =
the ability to accept checks and update the member's status to Paid, or =
if they will just collect checks and send them to the treasurer for data =
entry. My vote is to pass the work down to the SC's. What do y'all =
think?
The EC has the authority to mark someone as Paid even if no money =
has been received. (I'm assuming SC's and above will not have to pay a =
tour fee). There is a long comment field so the EC can give their reason =
for exempting the user from payment.=20
For accountability, the system records the name of the EC who last =
modified the user's payment status. A datestamp is applied.=20
The tour fee is set right now at $20, but can be easily changed. =
Once we have a tour fee established, I will e-mail blast the users with =
a payment request. At that time the registration page will also show the =
payment fee and where to send the check.
