Good points, all, Jerry. Thanks. I am thinking more of local participants rather than those who plan this as a holiday.

Gregory,
No, persona intelligenta. Keep thinking! These are good
points.
However, I think you have given a great answer -- the $47.00
is going to be way down in the noise of the cost of the trip.
Unfortunately we have not come up with a way to get
free food, lodging, or gasoline for entrants.
Do you think that $453 is a lot more easy to swallow than $500?
And if you do two sectors or more, the $47.00 truly disappears.
Further, at 35 cents a mile wear and tear, the "real" price
is going to be much higher. Anyone contemplating a trip like this
has to budget for this sort of cost...don't they? I suppose camping
is an option, but you still have fuel costs...This will definitely be cheap
by comparison to the Copperstate or other "Classic Rallyes".
But you can't travel for 5 days without paying.

I seriously doubt that anyone is going to be willing to pay $47 plus $27 for the privilege of driving public roads, but I may be proved wrong. This has to be added to hotel costs, food costs, and in my sector, ferry costs, and ABFM entry fees. This means that anyone wanting to do the Victoria-Vancouver sector (and registering late, thus incurring the $27 courier fee) will spend an absolute minimum of $500 for this sector; if he/she continues to the next sector the registration cost will be spread between the two sectors, but food, accomodation and other costs continue. This whole thing is starting to look very, very expensive for the average potential participant. Still, I may be being wildly pessimistic. I hope so, given all the time that has gone into this. We are doing our best here to whip up enthusiasm, but the registration / courier fees won't help. I suppose I have made myself (once again) persona non grata.

It covers the cost of couriering the late registrations to the SC where the registrant starts (i.e. a separate package for late registrants, by overnight courier). Cost could be as high as $50 if it is to go to Florida, or as little as $10 to go to Toronto, so I picked a likely average (note risk here!).
