And, how exactly are these fees (both general and sector) to be collected?

I'm not clear on what costs/reimbursements are anticipated by SC's. Other than voluteered time, I was not expecting any costs (or any reimbursements). If you are
referring to things like printing optional sector-specific handouts, and the like, wouldn't that be covered by the anticipated $10 sector fee? Also, I am wondering what happens when say $400 is collected in sector fees, and 0-$100 is spent -- where does the remainder go?

Hi Brad ... here are some answers as I understand them ...
"fee has been decided for even the National side" - no, still under discussion. If everyone can live with the $10 for the Sector fee, I say let's set it at that!
"route has been finalized ( guilty here as well in Virginia )" - no, that is up the the SC's, and about half of the SC's have not given me feedback on their route as of yet. This does not concern me too much right now, but should be decided by the end of the month. What does concern me is that if an SC has not looked at their route and need an extra day, THAT causes a problem for EVERYONE downstream, and should be avoided.
The one difficulty is where we do not have a few SC's in place. Wisconsin is close to having one. Indiana, I think we will by pass as there is no interest. Toronto, I think we are now close. Dallas and Oklahoma - not close - have sent out a couple of e-mails to the SC/ASC group and have had ZERO response - I have decided that ZERO response means "DON'T CARE" and will make the decision myself. That only leaves Carolinas and I have some feelers out but no definitive response.
"total of participants by sector has been mentioned" - the number of individuals participating in each sector is dependant upon how well we do our PR. We probably won't have a good idea until say end of March (or even later in some Sectors). One of the keys at this point is registration, and we are working on a methodology now.
"decision on who can participate has been finalized" - I think we're close - I'll try to put together a policy for review by the end of the weekend.
"process has been developed on how the SC's get reimbursed should we/they cover some of the costs up front" - that is up to the SC's and how they work their Sector finances. There is no seed fund at a Tour level.
"While the ideas of emblems and badges and the sort are nice - We have got to solidify some of these MAJOR issues here first - or the need for these other details will obviously not be needed." - you are spot on. But also we should not stifle the ideas on the small issues either.
Brad these type of comments are good and I would encourage all to be outspoken. There are a few items that are behind where I would like to see them too. There is always a last minute rush on volunteer type organizations, and I personally hate that part and want to avoid it as much as possible.

Team,
Not to be a pessimist - but I agree with Mike 100% and I have to ask , Bob - In reference to you r comments below, are there ANY details that have been decided on FIRMLY - seriously:
I don't think a:
1. fee has been decided for even the National side
2. route has been finalized ( guilty here as well in Virginia )
3. total of participants by sector has been mentioned
4. decision on who can participate has been finalized
5. process has been developed on how the SC's get reimbursed should we/they cover some of the costs up front
Among others.....
While the ideas of emblems and badges and the sort are nice - We have got to solidify some of these MAJOR issues here first - or the need for these other details will obviously not be needed.
DIRECTION/DECISIONS FROM THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE IS REQUIRED ASAP
Sorry about being so frank but it is the jist of what Mike was talking about.....
