[Mgb-v8] Gear box oil

I cannot find my notes so I have to ask the question....

Do I use transmission oil (ATF) in my Rover SD1 gearbox?
Any recommendations?

My gear changes seem to be are not so slick now and I fear I may have 
been leaking - although there are no drips under the car when parked for days
