[Oletrucks] Attaching cab to frame

Harry,

My ’54 frame is sitting outside while the cab is on a rotisserie I fabricated.

I can take a couple of photos of the parts still attached to the frame and send them in a private email. Essentially there is a lug bolted to the frame just aft of the running board support. This lug has a rubber bushing with a linkage to another rubber bushing with a lug that actually bolts to the cab with two 3/8NF bolts. The linkage is about 5” between centers of the two rubber bushings.

These parts are hopefully lying around your shop somewhere. There will also be a “washer/nut” that is a small steel flat bar about 1 1/2 x 2 1/2 x 3/8 thick with two 3/8NF tapped holes. This part reinforces the cab sheet metal trapped between the upper rubber bushing lug and this odd “nut.” If these two pieces are missing they are easy to fabricate.

Look closely at your rear cab corners and there will be two holes in the sheet metal on the inside. Underneath there is a formed channel where the two holes come through. The holes are 1/2” or larger to afford a little wiggle room. This is all from memory so I hope my parts are still there when I take a look.

Okay, I pulled my 55 1st series 3100 apart about 10 years ago. Today, I finally pushed the cab shell back into position on the chassis for a trip to a welder. Found the two forward mounting holes with no problem. Where the heck does the back of the cab attach to the frame? The cab bolts kit I bought includes the two forward bolts and rubber pads plus four rubber bushings.
 
I’m afraid it is too late, but remind me to take photos of everything I disassemble in the future. The good news is that the engine and tranny will be bolted in tomorrow.
