I think there are some year-to-year differences that would make it
very important to find an exact replacement.  I would think, given the
value and longevity of Volvos in general, that a used engine might be
hard to find.  But, if you had one to hand, I don't think there's
anything too complicated about changing it.  You might invest in the
Haynes manual for that car to see what's involved in the way of
special tools and equipment.

Or, you could use the money to buy an old 240 and stick a 5 liter Ford
V8 in it...
