Depends in the ballast. In most cases, the T8 LED inserts will work fine with T12 ballasts. But I have seen electronic fluorescent ballasts that did not work well with LED conversions.

The old ballast will also waste some power.

So I also suggest rewiring, and putting the sticker on.
