I haven't heard anyone talk about using an impact wrench vise breaker bar, etc.
Some place I read that you should use an impact wrench with a tap when trying
to get a broken bolt out.  The reason was that an 
impact wrench will only rotate 7 or 15 det.  Not 
enough to break the tap.  Where as a wrench/breaker bar will over
torque the tape and break it.

So I'm thinking between the hammering, and 
multiple rotation attempts per minute,
it might help break the plug loose.
