Thanks to all for their replies. I’ve decided to go with a Kobalt tool kit
that’s on sale at 50% off. While it doesn’t have certain tools (and far
too many screwdriver bits....to up the tool count) I figure that I’ll take
the saved dollars and fill in with some additional quality misc tools
like pliers, diag cutter, tape measure, etc.
Graduation party is this Saturday, so it’s off to Lowe’s this afternoon!

Subject: [Shop-talk] wanting suggestions: quality tools for gift
I’ve got a nephew (actually my nephew’s son) that’s graduating from
high school and attending college next year. He’s really car crazy, but
attorney father isn’t, so no opportunity to gain knowledge, other than
some visits with his Uncle Steve (me). He’s going away to university
and will (hopefully) have an opportunity to meet other mechanically
inclined students and friends. I’m thinking of getting him a small,
but quality, set of wrenches or sockets or screwdrivers or ...........
Something that he will hopefully serve him well thru his lifetime
and maybe even think of his Uncle Steve whenever he uses them!
Any suggestions? looking in the $100-$200 range, quality with value
more important than quantity. Hope this all makes sense.
Any suggestions? Graduation is coming up, so speed is of the
essence...of course.
Thanks.
