[Shotimes] what about a 540?

Parts are not "necessarily" expensive, but it depends. Much like the SHO,
some stuff is cheap, and some is not. The big advantage, in most cases, with
cars like BMWs, MBs, and Porsches is that there are a lot of parts sources,
and a lot of routine maintenance can be done inexpensively if you do your
own work. There are some unique factory parts that tend to be expensive,
BUT.....at least they are available....unlike some now-obsolete SHO parts.
Hell, you can just about build a complete 911 with parts available through
mail order and/or the Internet.

It's really the same with the SHO. If you pay someone to do all of your car
maintenance and repair, a SHO can be as expensive as a BMW, MB or Porsche.
When I had a major service done on the 911 last year, I would say that the
cost was the same, maybe less, than it would have cost to have the same work
done on my SHO by one of the major SHO facilities.

newspaper classified section than you can imagine. It's just a matter of
going back a few years. If you can buy a new G35, you could buy a 4 or 5
year old 540i. I doubt if it is hard to work on, but parts are likely to be
expensive.

can't afford parts for this car then you need to get rid of it and buy a
plain car". I think it's a snob thing- they like to think that not just
anybody can afford to own or maintain one.
