There is another story here, that needs to be pointed out.
(To those reading this on SHOtimes, it is about how Doug
Lewis of FPS has helped others gain knowledge about the cam
welding procedure he perfected for his own shop, to repair
cams on the V8 SHO.)

It should be noted that in this story about some (more)
good work being done by Doug Mellum at Perfomance Plus,
there is another very good story to make note of:

A story about SHO people helping each other. (copy of this
going to SHOtimes, because it is about both the V6 and V8
groups)

Doug Lewis has been a great benfactor to owners of the SHO
for many years and especially the V8 owners throughout this
entire cam situation.

He was one of the first, if not THE first viable business to
offer the welding procedure at a reasonable price.

Since then, instead of guarding his business "propery"
rights, he has shared them in many ways:

1. He allowed me to take pictures and publish an article,
on the welding procedure to the benefit of SHO Club members.

2. He shared his knowledge with Ford Motor Company when
they were doing research earlier this year, he has also
taked with several aftermarket engine suppliers.

3. He has talked to other owners when it was clear they
were too far away to make the trip to his business. Not
many shop owners will spend their valuable time to help
someone that isn't going to spend money with them.

4. He has talked with other repair shops to help them
provide a good repair from the start without so much worry
or experimentation, like he shared with Performance Plus.

This sharing of very important information has benefited
many V8 SHO owners. This is an example of the type of
person he is, which is someone that cares, not only about
his customers, but others that need help.

The same is true of Doug Mellum at Performance Plus, and of
Kevin Mahoney of Protech, of Josh at SHO Nut, Vadim at the
SHO Shop and many other people in the SHO universe that help
SHO owners every day without thought of gain on their part.
As a business owner myself, I know that this kind of
behavior can cost an owner time and money....in the short
term. This behavior also can lead to good will that pays
off in the long run, but more than that, it just makes for a
better world.

We have some really GOOD people on this list and in the SHO
Community. These people help others at the drop of a
keystroke or the ring of a phone. That is just one more
reason I am so glad that the SHO universe continues to be
strong. Like anything worthwhile, our group endures. This
is a lesson some big corporations should take to heart!

I thought these things needed to be said, especially at this
time of year. Happy Holidays everyone!

Sappy mode off! ;)
