[Shotimes] Strange noise...help!

Here is my take:
excessive rod bearing clearance resulting in low hot oil
pressure. When the oil gets up the full temp the
cam chain tensioners are collapsing causing all
the racket. Check your rod bearings NOW.
This is exactly the symptoms my 91 had, hot oil pressure
was dropping to around 3-4psi, oil light was flickering at hot idle,
after a good highway run the chain tensioners collapse
causing a heck of a racket. Rod bearings were toast.
Crank was salvageable without a regrind. (this is rare
however and less likely the longer you let it go).
