Hmmm, I never heard about the older 89-91? brakes being better.  Is it just that the rotors are vented, or is there more sweep area?

I haven't pulled the tranny yet, but the PO said he 'ran the tranny dry and then it started making lots of noise.'  There is a nice popping sound coming from the trans when you pull the car around.  The case looks good from what I see, but internally it is probably all chewed up.

I doubt I'll make much money, but like Joe vO said it will be educational and fun to tear it apart in the next few months.
