A LOT!!
This is as far as one goes into the front of the engine during a 60K mile service.
It's probably approaching $1,000 in parts and labor if you have it done, and this
assumes you have already done your homework and found someone that can do the work
correctly. There are very few Ford dealers that even know how to do this correctly.
The biggest problem they have is putting it back together so that it doesn't start
tearing itself apart a few years down the road, like a lot of our cars have done. I
had mine come apart 4 years after a dealer did a belt change.
Ask around, or let us know where you live, and there may well be a SHOtimer around
that can do it with you, so you can learn how to do it, and save the humongous labor
charge. There is a video out there, made by one of our listember mechanical
geniuses, that shows you in the car and on a bench engine how to do what you need to
do.
You'll need a timing belt, water pump, CKP sensor, and a seal, to do the job. An
approximate price for these items is in the vicinity of 300 to 350 bucks. The rest
is labor, unless you do it yourself. The best deal on parts, in most cases, is at
SHONutperformance.com and you should be able to get the 60K video there, or
someone around may let you borrow theirs.
Say where you are, and maybe someone close by can help you out.
