[Shotimes] Digital Camera Idiot

I agree. A couple of friends of mine did a lot of research (they're electronics nuts), and both bought Olympus C-3000 series cameras. I got a C-3040 last summer, along with an additional 128mb memory card, and have been VERY happy with it. The C-3040 (as well as the C-4040) have F1.8 lenses. I wanted a digial that has great abilities as a camera, and it has not disappointed me.

be anything MemoryStick).

I've had a Sony, and 2 Olympus digitals, and the Olympus is by far my
favorite. I went to the Sony after my 1st Olympus because it was
cheaper, however, I ended up going BACK to the Olympus, because the
Sony took HORRIBLE night pictures.

Don't get me wrong, its not a bad quality camera by any means - very
easy to use, small, light, durable, and held ~192 pictures on a 32MB
memory stick in 640x480, however, I do take night pictures on
occasion, and I may as well just have taken a picture with my hand
over the lens, I would've gotten the same effect.

The camera I have now is an Olympus D-380. Wal-Mart sells it for
approx. $197, and it comes with an 8MB SmartMedia card (holds ~45
640x480 pictures - a 32 or 64MB SmartMedia card can be had for
~$30 at Best Buy or the like and will hold ~180 or 360 pictures,
respectively).

Has 5X digital zoom, a "video" mode for taking AVI movies, and is
horribly easy to use. Connects via USB and is fast as lightning.

My first Olympus was a D-360L, and was very similar, however,
a little heavier, and didn't support USB. Its a discontinued model
now.

The Sony I had was a DSC-P20. Any of the Sony Mavicas that use
floppies are way too bulky to be of any good use... And still take
awful pictures :) E-mail me privately, if you'd like... My friend
has a Mavica that he took some pictures with, and I took similar
pictures with my Sony, if you'd like to compare the 2 quality-wise.

Finally, a topic I can contribute to. :)
