I concur.  I got a C3040 for Father's Day last year, and it is a very nice camera. 
Most of the pictures I take with it need to be brightened using Photoshop, but I
figure that is an adjustment I can make after I figure out what adjustment TO make. 
The resolution is so good that I set it for the smallest picture size...SQ2 I think
it is.  I can take 165 pictures with the supplied 16mb card.
