Be careful. If a strap really did let go it can saw it's way through the
case. Then you'll need a new trans.

Subject: [Shotimes] broken PP torque strap
> Could someone please enlighten me on what it would take to break a torque
strap and what the symptoms might consist of? I am beginning to wonder if
this is what I did a while back while messing with a friend in a Maxima, if
anyone remembers that post. For those that don't, here's a recap. New clutch
spring of this year (bought the stuff at the beginning of May), OEM other
than the Grizzly TOB and SHO Shop lite flywheel. Was doing great until about
a month ago, after the afore mentioned encounter with said Maxima.
Afterwards it slipped bad and I really had to change my driving style. Weird
thing was there was no clutch smell at the time and the thing has not
regained any grab since the incident, which I would expect it to if I'd just
glazed the friction disc.

and merge onto the highway. Shifted normal after that, then there's a weird
slip and bonk. Afterward there is a sound like a card in a bicycle wheel or
a stick dragging on the ground with clutch pedal operation, most of the time
but not always. Doesn't seem to slip any more or less, but the noise is
distressing. Getting the truck in running condition for the winter has taken
on a new level of importance, as there's no way in hell I'm driving the
Mustang daily if the SHO craps out. Well, I would if I HAD to, but I'd
rather not. Luckily I've got radials on back again rather than the ET
Streets.

glazed clutch, especially since I never smelled the tell tale odor and it
hasn't got any better? Any ideas on the noise that cropped up this morning?
