[Shotimes] T-stat

So what's with the temp then on our cars. My best run was at the 1/4 with
my Gen 3 was with a motor about 120F. The intake had stayed cool to the
touch even after 6 consecutive runs that day. The ambient temps were in the
low 40sF. But each run was a bit slower. When I let the car sit for 30
minutes then I got the best 1/8 et by .2 seconds. Which is a big change for
my car as it is extremely consistent in times. Do you suppose this is EEC-V
programming wrt the tranny? I did get the best launch of the day too on
that run.

I have a FordChip in the car and it works great. One of the few that
actually work in the Gen3. They state on their web site in the FAQs that
the car is most efficient with the OEM t-stat of 192F. I have installed a
t-stat bypass that I can manually cool the motor down to the C mark by using
the heater fan and the fan controller I have installed on the car.

This weekend I cooled the car to the 120F mark and ran on the dyno. I was
disappointed with the results and felt that I could of had more hp with the
temps up. I currently run a 170F t-stat and have had no noticeable
drivability concerns. So where is the happy medium with the engine temp?
OEM or lower?
