I just re-built a motor for a cust .... and still have a 96 brake up grade
to do ... there fore I dont want to put the half shafts in just to start the
motor and make sure all is well.

The tranny is currently "DRY" .. no fluid ..... and in nuetral .... i know
the input shaft is turning .... but no other gears . Will this damage the
input shaft ... ie the bearings at either end that support it ..... I have
also thought just to get a small piece of 4 x 4 to hold the clutch down ....
which should prevent the input shaft from turning ....

Any thoughts on those in the know ?
