[Shotimes] Having a problem with a heavy spot in my steering

 Hello I have a 1992 MTX SHO with a steering problem. 
It started today that when I turn left only the
turning effort rises dramaticly about one-half turn of
the steering wheel in.  Then it comes back to normal
at 3/4 turn in.  If I stop the car and do it I can
feel a click in the brake pedal that feels like an ABS
engagement.  I'm lost on if its the VAPS screwing up
since the car has 133K but the brake pedal click
confuses me.  Michael.
