The 428 was another variation on the block that (I believe) started with the
352 (although there may have been a 332 in there), then went through the
390, 406, 427. The 428 was some combo of crank and bore from one of the
other displacements.

There were a couple of 428s, the standard-issue motor, and the CJ.
Difference being power output.

The 429 (wedge and Boss motor) and the 460 were totally different.

Back to Ford, their were 2 incompatable 428s, which is not the same as a
either 427's or the 429?
