A friend has a MB 500 coupe with fancy chrome factory wheels.  Same thing happened. 
There is a wheel place nearby that does anything and everything to wheels.  They were
able to fix the chrome to the point where it doesn't show.  The price was reasonable to
him.....remember he drives a MB.

It can probably be fixed, depending on what you want to pay.
