Ah yes.....rear springs......

There are aftermarket rear springs that are stronger than factory rears. The rear
springs on SHOs wear out faster than the fronts. If your tires are dragging on the
cladding as if the truck were loaded with cargo, you are definitely looking at a worn out
set of springs.

Get Cargo Coils, from Moog, at any reputable auto parts store. NAPA stores have their
own brand, which are basically the same thing. There might be more than one set for a
Taurus....get the ones for the LX. They are about 80 bucks a set, and require the
removal of the struts from the car to be swapped. There are instructions on the SHOTimes
website under "Care and Feeding", and then go to Suspension....swapping of springs and
struts. Regular mechanic's tools will suffice for the job, but you might add an air
compressor and a set of spring compressors to make the job safe and a lot easier.

Use the slotted rubber insulators that wrap around the coils on the new springs...don't
throw them away.
