George,

I've never seen a brass original heater core in a Taurus, however the 93
shop manual does mention both Al and brass designs. My 93 got a brass
replacement several years ago during the first SHOtimes leaky heater core
hysteria. The original was in fact good, proven by a subsequent pressure
test. The leak was traced back to the heater hose connections at the
firewall. Live and learn.

Have you pressure tested any of the failed heater cores?
