No PITA. I just pushed the upper halves around to the bottom.

The mains do not need to be replaced as a factor of wear. The 3.0 has stout
enough mains that they would be just fine to 150k if one chooses. I replace
mine to keep oil pressure as high as possible and reduce vibration as the
motor ages.The more wear on the main bearings, the more they wear on the
crank. It's kinda like using true synthetic vs hydrocracked dyno as far as
the mains are concerned. For the rod bearings, though, it's more like true
synthetic vs the oil from a pan that was sitting under a Buick in the junk
yard.
