[Shotimes] Windshield replacement

I feel bad for asking this but I really wanna get a new windshield for my car since the factory one looks like hell. The insurance company (State Farm) will not replace the glass because it's scratched and pitted but they WILL replace it if it's cracked ($0-deductable on glass). I'd really like to bash my windshield on the outside and say it was vandalism.. has anyone else done this? The appeal of a brand new windshield installed without me having to do anything but file a police report sounds good but there are the obvious moral and ethical problems.
