The can I have says manufactured sept 2000 and by the UPC it says  in
bold all caps: do not use on windows or mirrors. I would venture a guess
that they refer to plate glass and auto glass would be unofficially OK.

By the way, I'm surprised that a non-food item has such a
straightforward date on it. It's so hard to find food items that say
when they were made in an easy to read format but here's this inedible
product that just says when it was made.

I use it all the time. As a matter of fact,if you look at the can that
GM 
dealers sell as a windshield cleaner, the basic layout looks like a Bon
Ami 
can but it has GM's logo on it.

I don't remember my can saying anything about not being used on glass
though. 
Maybe the formula changed? I'll look when I get home.
