Subject: [mr2] MityVac
I had just finished replacing the rear caliper of my new Maxima SE
(should I have said MR2 SC?) I relized I had no one to press the brake
pedal while I bled the system. Remembering that Strawberry Kid always
says use a MityVac I rushed out to Harbor Freight in my MR2 SC (there
was the MR2 content) to pick on up. They have a kit for $32.95 in stock.
I'd almost bought one several times before but didn't.
My point is this. Forget the SpeedBleeders. Get the MityVac. It just
pain works. Hook it up, crack the bleeder, pump the handle a couple
times. Take your time walking to the front to check the master cylinder
level. Fill as needed. The MityVac will keep drawing until it runs out
of vacuum or you realese the vacuum. It's all self contained. No need
for a separate fluid container. It's included. The pump mechanism never
touches the brake fluid so it should last for a long time. Included in
the kit are bits of hose and vacuum adapters so that you can also use it
for drawing an engine vacuum to see if there are any leaks and many
other uses. This thing is definitely worth the thirty five bucks I spent
to get it!
Thanks Don!
