The right rear trunk area, behind the wheel well, holds the small gel-cell battery I
use as a back-up power source for the alarm and the stereo system....it keeps
head-unit memories alive when I take out the main battery, and also backs it up for
alarm power. That was the side that is pushed in, something just under a foot, and
the battery is up at an angle, undamaged, supported by the nice thick board it is
mounted on. That board saved it from being crushed and coming all apart inside the
trunk.

The LEFT rear trunk area is where the 50 CD changer is located, with the 40 or so
CDs that I have been making over the last 5 or 6 years. That area wasn't hurt, and
the stereo system worked fine after the accident. I removed the changer and the
head unit (double-din) before leaving the car at the body shop. The changer is now
in the CV, the back-up for the work commute, working just fine.

If the changer were on the right side, or the left side had been hit, it would be in
a zillion pieces (plastic), along with the CDs.

See.....there are angels out there, taking care of all of us.
