[Shotimes] OK, found out my problem, now I need at least a temporary

I got up under the car. The support rod for the shifter to the tranny has
issues, the actual rod that does the shifting is fine. Where the support rod
actually screws into the tranny is messed up. The rod isn't messed up, but
the hole on the tranny where the screw goes in is cracked in half and the
screw has part of the tranny hole housing (for lack of better words...) stuck
to it pretty good. Since this is happening when I try to shift the linkage is
moving all around. Anyone think loctite or welding could be a solution?
Please let me know your opinions on this. If welding is possible, should i
use copper or what? I have a couple of uncles (well 2 i trust) who could weld
fine I'm sure.
