Several years ago, I had a sound from my 90 that was suspicious.  I never could pin it down but wondered if it was a shim out of spec.  It was almost time for the second 60k so I went ahead and did the valves.  All of the shims were OK and the sound didn't change.  Later I found out I had the dreaded "crank cancer".  So the sound was the crank gear bouncing back and forth.

It wouldn't hurt to check the torque on your harmonic balancer bolt to see if it has loosened.
