I recall that the pulley faces the rear of the car (at the end of the crank)
on that flat 6. The top was a fan assy with a pulley on a horizontal line.
At the rear top corner of the engine, there were two idlers to allow 1 belt
to run the route.
Amazing, useless information remaining in my brain.
