It all depends on the condition when you get it apart.  If it looks smooth or 
even if it has very, very light circular grooving then you are probably OK.  
If it is rougher, then you can try to smooth it off yourself with emery cloth 
and a leather belt or shoestring.  (wrap the emery cloth and shoestring 
around the journals and pull the ends of the string to see-saw the emery 
cloth back and forth around the journal.)  In any event it is advisable to 
check the clearances with plastigage.  If it looks really bad or if the 
clearances are way off, then you need another plan.
